Size:

(Pinus koraiensis)

Grow your own pine nuts! These hardy evergreen nut trees look similar to our native white pine, but produce the delicious, expensive pine nuts you find in the store. Trees are slow growing for the first several years and then really start to put on growth once their roots have established.

We offer small 1-2 year old seedlings that are ready to be planted and protected in their final location for the best establishment.

Flavor profile: Buttery, rich, sweet

Hardiness zone: 3-7

Light: Part shade to full sun

Soil: Well-drained, fertile, sandy or loamy soils with pH 5.5-7

Mature height: 30-40’

Spacing: 20-30’

Pollination: Partially self-fertile but more cones and nuts will be produced with two or more trees.

Growing tips: Korean Nut Pine trees grow slowly in the first 3-5 years. Make sure you protect young seedlings from grazing and rodents at planting with wire cages. Full sun and well drained soil is key to establishment. Planting near native pines or amendingthe planting hole with a small amount of soil taken from under a local pine tree can help inoculate the roots with beneficial organisms that will make your pine tree establish faster.

We are unable to ship this product outside the contiguous US or to California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.

All Fall ‘26 orders will be shipped or available for pick up in October-November 2026.
