The plum cultivars we offer are Japanese or American types, which do not suffer quite as much from diseases as European plums, the main difficulty with growing any prunus plants in the northeast. Japanese plums are generally less hardy than European, but we offer hybrids that are hardy down to zone 3 or 4. Japanese plums are very graft compatible with many types of plums; we like to use American plum for rootstock.
Black Ice: Cross between Cherry plum and Japanese plum. Very sweet, freestone, dark purple plums. Trees are compact with a beautiful natural form, making them easy to prune. Hardy and precocious. Ripens mid season.
Le Crescent: Hybrid Japanese x American plum. Beautiful, sweet golden fruits. Hardy and vigorous. Ripens mid-late season.
Toka: Hybrid Japanese x American plum. Small tasty fruits, also known as Bubblegum plum for their sweet reminiscent flavor. Nice growth habit, hardy and a very effective pollinator for neighboring plums.
We are unable to ship this product outside the contiguous US or to California.
All scions and cuttings will be shipped in late March or early April with any bare root plants in your order. If you would like scions or cuttings in February or March, please place a separate order with only the scions or cuttings (no plants) and add your shipping window preference in the “special instructions” section at checkout.
