Eastern Redbud (Bare Root)
(Cercis canadensis)
A beloved, hardy tree native to eastern North America with great ornamental and pollinator value. Redbud is a tame, compact tree with a lovely shape, known for its deep pink (edible!) blooms early in the spring. It is one of the most beneficial trees that you can plant for bees, as its nectar filled flowers are a great food source early in the season.
Hardiness zone: 4-9
Light: Full sun to part shade, but more sun will result in more flowers
Soil: Adaptable but prefers well-drained soil with pH 6.5-8
Mature height: 15-25’ depending on pruning
Spacing: 10-15’ apart
Planting tips: Make sure your planting hole has good drainage by digging a large hole and stabbing the bottom and sides with a shovel so water can drain. Fill the hole with native soil to help water disperse evenly. Consistent watering is crucial for newly planted trees to help minimize transplant shock and establish strong roots.
We are unable to ship this product outside the contiguous US or to California.
All orders are for Fall 2025 and will be shipped in October-November. Ordering closes November 1st. Live plants will be shipped bare root and dormant.
